Do you not love the smell of fresh cut cut greenery?
When I saw Ballard’s Alphabet Wreath I knew this would be easy to make and perfect for my back door!
I used the same pattern that I used on my DIY Wooden Letter to cut out my wreath form.
Only this time I cut it out of plywood with a jigsaw and sanded lightly to insure the edges where round and clean.
This plywood was left over from the back of the Crate & Barrel Knock Off Bookcases. Yeah! Another free project.
Basic Supplies: Letter form, fresh cut greenery, wire, and wire cutters.
I started at the bottom of the letter, layered the greenery, and wrapped with wire. I’m sure you’re all smart enough to be aware of this, but I’ll mention it anyways, lay the greenery in the same direction that it grows on the tree.
At the end, twist the wire around to secure in the back.
In desperate need of a hair cut!
I added a pine cone, a sprig of Nadina berries, and hung from a bow.
Edit: I used “Adobe Hebrew” font for the pattern. And the pattern can be found here “Printing Multiple Pages”.

Love it! If I could conquer my fear of power tools, I'd do this today!
ReplyDeleteI WANT one!!!! If I had the letter - and the tools, I'd have one now!
ReplyDeleteDon't let fancy tools stop you. Use thick cardboard or foam core. You might need to glue a few pieces together to get it nice and sturdy.
ReplyDeleteJust think outside the box. Where there's a will there's a way!
I love it! It turned out so cute and better than the Ballard one! :) If you can't make the letter they have large letters at certain JoAnn Fabric stores too.
ReplyDeleteNice job Carrie!!!
Wonderful!!!! I love love this! Im not kidding this is BETTER than Ballards!

What about it drying out. How long do you think it will last?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comments!
ReplyDeletehappymomof3~
I have done garland's in the past and have had great success with them lasting. Different cutting (or trees/bushes) will have an effect on how long it last. Cedar and Cyprus don't usually last as long as holly and boxwood. Also the weather can help or hurt..... if you live in a milder climate {such as South Carolina} some years I only get two weeks. But it seriously only took less than 10 minutes to make after I gathered all the supplies! So if if I need to do redo it in the middle of the month it's no biggie :D
I love it!!! It looks great on your door! Although it would look great on my door! :)

Amazing!!!! Great DIY project, and it looks so fabulous on your front door! I maybe trying this with foam boards since I dont have a jigsaw...
ReplyDeleteLOVE this idea! QUESTION, how do I get such a large letter? I understand the block posters and all, but you have to have a large letter to begin with. Please help! Thanks
ReplyDeleteAEGriffith~ First you will need open up a program that will allow you to save an image in JPG format, such as, Photoshop, Word, or Paint. Type a letter/number and enlarge it as far as you can go on a single page. Again, I recommend that you use a light color or just an outline of the letter/number to save on ink. Save as a JPG file. Then import into www.blockposters.com.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Thank you so much! The wreath that you did is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with doing this wreath!! Thanks so much for the tutorial.
